Thecla Bodewes Shipyards has delivered the eighth LABRAX vessel in a series of ten to Vertom Group. Like the others, the MV Vertom Joyce is a 7280-DWT state-of-the-art dry cargo vessel.

The MV Vertom Joyce is the result of a long-standing collaboration between Thecla Bodewes Shipyards and Vertom Group. Designed with a spacious box-shaped hold and lower propulsion demand, the vessel is purpose-built for efficient cargo movement across Europe and beyond, while cutting emissions and fuel use significantly compared to traditional tonnage.

The ceremonial handover took place at Harlingen Seaport, in the presence of stakeholders from both companies.

Diesel-electric propulsion

Built with a state-of-the-art diesel-electric propulsion system, the MV Vertom Joyce is engineered to significantly cut emissions and reduce fuel consumption. A modern power management system ensures optimal energy efficiency, reinforcing both companies’ ongoing commitment to greener operations and a low-carbon maritime industry.

The MV Vertom Joyce offers exceptional cargo-handling capabilities and operational efficiency. Measuring 118.60 metres in length with a beam of 14.30 metres, and featuring a spacious full-box cargo hold of 329,700 cubic feet, the vessel stands out as a competitive solution for modern logistics.

Its reduced propulsion power requirements ensure cost savings and environmental benefits compared to conventional ships in the same class.

Following in the wake of its sister vessels — including Vertom Patty, Vertom Cyta, Vertom Tomma, Vertom Anne Marit, Vertom Anette, Vertom Lisa, and Vertom Willemijn — the MV Vertom Joyce strengthens the reputation of the LABRAX series as a benchmark for sustainable performance at sea.
