Dalian Shipbuilding Offshore Co. (DSOC) has contracted Huisman for two Heavy Lift Mast Cranes to be installed on BigLift Shipping’s new heavy lift vessel, Happy S. This will be a sister vessel to the Happy Star.
The cranes offer a maximum lifting capacity of 1100 mt each at an outreach of 23 metres, combining lifting performance with a compact footprint to maximise operational flexibility, efficiency and reliability.
Furthermore, the fully electric design, including an integrated power management system, enables efficient distribution of available power from the vessel’s grid to both cranes. The cranes are equipped with the capability to vertically sea fast the boom, allowing oversized cargo to be transported without a horizontally stowed boom limiting the available deck space.
The Heavy Lift Mast Cranes will be manufactured at Huisman‘s production facility in Zhangzhou, China.

Over 100 mast cranes to date
With more than 100 mast cranes delivered worldwide, Huisman’s Heavy Lift Mast Cranes have established a strong track record in the heavy-lift transport market. The first crane of its kind, delivered in 1984 to BigLift Shipping’s Happy Buccaneer, successfully served for over forty years, reflecting the durability and reliability that have become hallmarks of the design.
Johan Boer, Managing Director at BigLift Shipping: ‘The Happy S is an important investment in the future of BigLift Shipping and further strengthens our heavy-lift capabilities. The Huisman cranes will provide the lifting capacity and operational flexibility required to meet the evolving demands of our customers. We are pleased to continue our successful cooperation with Huisman, a relationship that dates back to the delivery of the original cranes for the Happy Buccaneer.’
