Menck has delivered the first of two MHU4400S hydraulic hammer systems to Heerema Marine Contractors. The hammers have dedicated transport cradles with each accompanied by an innovative Menck Noise Reduction Unit (MNRU).

Menck is Acteon’s Marine Foundations business line. The delivery marks the first phase of a two-hammer supply agreement that reinforces the long-standing collaboration between Heerema and Acteon. The hammers will join Heerema’s fleet of Menck’s systems.

Adding this new hammer expands Heerema’s available pile-driving capacity and contributes to greater operational uptime and project predictability. With two identical MHU4400S systems available, Heerema gains increased planning flexibility and can respond quickly to upcoming project requirements. As part of the contract, Menck also supplies a custom set of tools, parts, and consumables.

Noise mitigation

Menck’s MHU4400S hammer incorporates proven design principles with integration into Heerema’s standards, power and control systems and lifting arrangements. This compatibility allows the MHU4400S to be deployed efficiently across a wide variety of offshore foundation installation campaigns.

Each hammer system includes a global navigation satellite system and Menck’s noise mitigation technology, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. As offshore energy projects continue to scale, the MHU4400S strengthens Heerema’s capacity to deliver safe and predictable installation work. Its robust performance and adaptability make it suitable for diverse project environments and challenging seabed conditions.

Second hammer in 2027

With just three months between contract award and delivery, Heerema gains early operational benefits while retaining the flexibility to optimise performance ahead of the second phase. The second hammer system is scheduled for delivery in October 2027, supporting Heerema’s phased operational planning.

Heerema Marine Contractors’ CEO, Marcel de Nooijer: ‘At Heerema, we continue to invest in the assets that set us apart in the offshore industry. High quality equipment gives our offshore crew what they need to deliver results for our clients, no matter the complexity of the project. The arrival of this first new hammer is another step in continuously strengthening our tools and capabilities to deliver the best operational performance.’
