Heerema Marine Contractors has entered into the GROW consortium, a leading Dutch innovation platform for offshore wind. This marks a strategic alignment between Heerema and GROW’s mission to accelerate innovation and collaboration in the offshore wind sector.
For Heerema, participation in GROW (Growth through Research, development & demonstration in Offshore Wind) is crucial due to technological developments and the shared challenges in the wind industry. Within the consortium, Heerema will focus on noise mitigation and silent piling techniques with alternative hammers. These projects are essential for reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainable energy solutions.
Roel Swinkels, Director Discipline Engineering at Heerema: ‘Our participation in the GROW consortium allows us to directly contribute to, and benefit from, the latest technological developments in the offshore wind sector. We look forward to working with our partners within GROW to develop innovative solutions that shape the future of sustainable energy.’

GROW projects
GROW hosts a wide range of projects, covering topics such as bottom-fixed and floating foundation innovations, energy system integration, circularity, and biodiversity. Heerema has already actively participated in several GROW Joint Industry Projects (JIPs), such as SJOR (Slip Joint Offshore Research), GDP2.0 (Gentle Driving of Piles 2.0), and SIMOX (Sustainable Installation of XXL Monopiles).
