Royal T Shipyards has delivered MV Vertom Quina to the Vertom Group. With this delivery, Royal T and Vertom officially conclude the LABRAX series: a benchmark for efficient, future-proof short-sea shipping.

Over the course of ten vessels, the partnership has been defined by mutual trust, shared ambition, and continuous improvement.

‘The delivery of MV Vertom Quina is both a proud and meaningful moment for us,’ says Thecla Bodewes, CEO of Royal T Shipyards. ‘It is not only the last vessel in the LABRAX series for Vertom, but also the result of a truly great partnership. Over the years, we have worked side by side with Vertom’s team, learning from each other and continuously refining the design. That level of cooperation is rare — and something we value enormously.’

Engineered with alternative fuels in mind

MV Vertom Quina represents the most mature execution of the LABRAX concept, benefitting from the collective experience gained throughout the entire series. Designed for maximum cargo efficiency and reduced environmental impact, the vessel measures 118.60 metres in length, with a beam of 14.30 metres, and features a full-box cargo hold of 329,700 cubic feet.

The vessel is equipped with a diesel-electric propulsion system and advanced energy management, delivering lower fuel consumption, reduced emissions, and improved operational flexibility. Like its sister vessels, MV Vertom Quina is engineered with future alternative fuels in mind, ensuring long-term relevance in an evolving regulatory landscape.

Crew feedback

Throughout the series, operational feedback from Vertom’s crews, newbuilding team, and shore organisation was closely integrated into the design and construction process. This hands-on collaboration allowed for continuous optimisation, resulting in a fleet that performs consistently well across operational, environmental, and commercial criteria.

Following its launch and christening at Royal T Shipyards, MV Vertom Quina completed final outfitting, trials, and commissioning before delivery. It now enters service as the concluding vessel of the LABRAX series.
