During the Maritime Awards Gala on 3 November, the Mpowered campaign film was officially launched — marking the start of a new, sector-wide initiative to highlight the strength and relevance of the Dutch maritime industry to the whole of the Netherlands.

The campaign aims to strengthen the image of the maritime sector and show the general public, policymakers, and businesses how vital the maritime industry is for the Dutch economy, security, and sustainability. It focuses on three key goals:

  • Awareness: Every Dutch citizen should understand what “maritime” means — for the Netherlands and for themselves.
  • Perception: Politicians, policymakers, and the media should recognise the sector as innovative, leading, and crucial for the future.
  • Attraction: Young people and professionals should be inspired to pursue education or a career in the maritime world.

Joining forces

The maritime sector is the driving force of the Netherlands — from energy and food to security and innovation. Maritime touches us all. With Mpowered, the sector is joining forces to show how essential maritime truly is for the future.

A strong campaign requires collective effort. Thanks to an initial contribution from the Verolme Trust, Mpowered is now underway. However, to reach its full potential, the engagement of the entire maritime sector is needed. Interested parties can register via the Mpowered website.

In addition to Verolme Trust, the launching partners of Mpowered are Brancheorganisatie Zeehavens (BOZ), Damen Shipyards, Port of Rotterdam, Huisman, Koninklijke Binnenvaart Nederland, the Royal Association of Netherlands Shipowners (KVNR), Loodswezen, MARIN, Maritime & Offshore NL, Royal IHC, Vereniging van Waterbouwers and the Maritime Knowledge Centre (Maritiem Kennis Centrum).
