Six specialised vessels from the bankrupt Delta Coastal Services (DCS) will be auctioned online on 22 September. Financing company Beequip has initiated the foreclosure sale, with Vastgoedveiling.nl organising the auction under the supervision of Van der Stap Notarissen in Rotterdam.

As the borrower has failed to meet its payment obligations, Beequip is exercising its right of foreclosure.

Six-vessel fleet

The bankrupt DCS operated six vessels that have been involved in high-profile projects such as coastal reinforcement works at Ameland and Vlieland, offshore wind developments near Borssele, and the construction of the Fehmarnbelt tunnel between Denmark and Germany. The vessels are currently located at four sites across the Netherlands.

The six vessels are:

  • DCS Explorer – A steel multicat with 19-tonne bollard pull and two 80-tonne cranes. With a shallow draught of 1.85 metres, the vessel is suited to offshore operations such as anchor handling, towing, and pushing. Currently moored at Dockside, Oostdijk 25, Rotterdam.
  • Q Adventurer (formerly DCS Adventurer) – A 41-metre steel workboat used as a tender and support vessel for dredging and survey work. Currently located at Norden Shipyard in Sas van Gent, together with the DCS Merlin.
  • DCS Discovery – A 2018-built catamaran-type crew transfer vessel (CTV), designed for safe and efficient personnel transport to offshore wind farms. The vessel is berthed at Oosterhavenweg 18, Vlissingen.
  • DCS Verifier – An aluminium workboat originally built by Damen Shipyards for defence applications, later repurposed for inspection, survey, and support duties in the offshore oil and gas sector. Currently moored at Eemhaven 8, Rotterdam.
  • DCS Warrior – A CTV capable of speeds up to 28 knots, fitted with two powerful MAN engines. The vessel was used for fast offshore transfers and support operations. Currently located at Kostra Haven Services, Eemhavenstraat 8, Rotterdam.
  • DCS Merlin – A rescue vessel fitted with a spray system for firefighting and emergency support during offshore operations. The vessel is currently placed aboard the Q Adventurer at Norden Shipyard in Sas van Gent.

Whether ship inspections will be possible ahead of the auction has yet to be confirmed. As soon as more is known, it will be announced via the auction page.

Bankruptcy DCS

Delta Coastal Services BV, active in offshore services, was declared bankrupt by the Zeeland-West-Brabant District Court on 9 November 2021. The vessels form part of the estate and are now being sold on behalf of the mortgage lender.

‘This vessel portfolio is unique in both size and diversity,’ says Richard Dieteren, director at Vastgoedveiling.nl. ‘For companies in offshore, wind energy and maritime services, this auction represents an attractive opportunity.’
