Following the recent launch of the Amels refit Albatross, the yacht’s new name has now been unveiled. During a private naming ceremony, which took place at the main Damen Yachting shipyard in Vlissingen City, the newly-extended and significantly refitted yacht was christened Moonstone.
The now 79.2-metre Moonstone, originally built by Delta Marine and refitted by Amels, has undergone a complete exterior and interior transformation in collaboration with London-based Design Studio Harrison Eidsgaard over the last 26 months. Now in the final stages of its time at Damen Yachting, it is undergoing sea trials and commissioning.
On Tuesday April 29, Amels Refit Moonstone passed through the one lock out onto open water for its first official sea trial post refit works.

Refit
The scope of works have seen an extension to the yacht’s original length of 7 metres overall. Damen Yachting removed 10 metres and added 17 metres. The reconfiguration in layout, both interior and exterior, has seen the addition of a Beach Club including wellness centre, a large exterior pool, a Winter Garden, and enlarged exterior seating areas.
The biggest challenge was the extension of the hull and ensuring the boat’s stability. To be able to do this, the exhaust systems were lifted due to the increased weight and numerous systems were reengineered. It has been a collective effort, drawing on the extensive experience of Damen Yachting engineers and designers to ensure the boat performs flawlessly and to the owner’s expectations.
