Anthony Veder has taken delivery of Yas, a 9000-m3 ethylene carrier. The gas carrier, delivered in the port of Yeosu, is renamed Coral Palmata. This addition is to further strengthen the company’s fleet, comprising petrochemical and LNG carriers, to 29 vessels.

The vessel, previously owned by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), is suitable for the carriage of petrochemical gasses, offering the flexibility to employ Coral Palmata in the ethylene trade as well as in products such as propylene and liquid petrochemical gas (LPG).

As an integrated shipping company, Anthony Veder will be responsible for the technical and commercial ship management of Coral Palmata.

Rejuvenation of the fleet

‘Built in 2014, the renamed Coral Palmata is the youngest ethylene carrier worldwide in its segment and will contribute to the rejuvenation of our fleet,’ says Jan Valkier, CEO of Anthony Veder. ‘Acquiring this ethylene carrier fits in our strategy to maintain and reinforce our position in shipping petrochemical gasses worldwide.’

During the last few weeks, the crew completed a familiarisation and teambuilding programme. This allowed them to get acquainted with Anthony Veder’s safety culture, each other, and the vessel.
