Reederei Lehmann GmbH & Co KG has ordered two new RB 5800 EcoTraders from Royal Bodewes. These general cargo vessels will be built at the yard in Hoogezand, the Netherlands, and delivery is set for Q4/2027 and Q2/2028.

The order for these two vessels is a testament to the strong relationship between Royal Bodewes and Reederei Lehmann. This relationship has been further solidified by Lehmann’s decision to replace almost its entire fleet with Royal Bodewes vessels. The new RB 5800 EcoTrader is optimised for the trade of Lehmann.

Both vessels have ice class 1A with the following main particulars: LOA 99.95 m, breadth 15.20 m, draught 5.95 m, DWAT abt. 5700 tonnes, cubic abt. 300,000 Cbft.

Energy efficient and large cargo intake

The design has been optimised to achieve good energy efficiency in way of speed power, in combination with a large cargo intake with a single hold. The vessels to be built, reflect the shared commitment to innovation and quality that Lehmann and Bodewes represent. Both companies identify the topic of reducing CO2 as the biggest challenge of their generation.
