Heesen Yachts has launched the 55-metre steel yacht YN 20655, now officially named Solemates. The yacht will now enter the commissioning phase in preparation for its maiden voyage to the North Sea, where it will undergo rigorous sea trials.
The yacht, previously code-named Project Venus, exemplifies Heesen’s commitment to luxury and innovation in yacht design. It is a testament to the owner’s clear vision of a personalised vessel tailored for family use. Interior customisation is being managed by Heesen’s interior engineers in collaboration with Silvia Margutti of Luca Dini Design and Architecture.

Staircase with acrylic panels
One of the yacht’s most captivating features is the redesigned main staircase, adorned with acrylic panels embedded with gold flakes and crystals. The bridge deck salon has been crafted to promote family gatherings, while the sundeck boasts an expanded jacuzzi and adjacent bar.
Solemates is set to make its grand debut at the Monaco Yacht Show next September, followed by an appearance at the Palm Beach International Boat Show. Delivery of this exceptional superyacht is set for Q2 2025.

FDHF design made of steel
The construction of what was then still called Project Venus commenced in November 2022. Its slender steel hull, an iteration of van Oossanen Naval Architects’ ultra-efficient Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) design, was meticulously fabricated at Talsma in Friesland, the Netherlands. To maintain the highest quality, the fabrication of steel hulls takes place at a separate location to prevent cross-contamination with the yacht builder’s aluminium hulls, which are welded at the facility in Oss.
Boasting a voluminous 760 GT enclosed space, Solemates offers ample room for amenities while remaining small enough to enter the charming ports of the Mediterranean. The forward positioning of the stabiliser fins and the solid steel hull contribute to a comfortable cruising experience.
