Trelleborg Marine & Infrastructure, headquartered in Dubai, has acquired Mampaey Offshore Industries. Mampaey, based in Dordrecht, the Netherlands, has over 120 years of experience delivering advanced solutions for the marine industry.

Trelleborg provides engineered polymer and technology solutions for the marine, infrastructure, and energy industries. Mampaey is globally recognized for the design and manufacture of integrated berthing, mooring, ship-to-shore links, and towing systems for LNG, petrochemical, and commercial port applications.

Through the acquisition, Trelleborg is looking to enhance its capabilities in the vessel berthing sector and expand its offerings for the marine industry. Trelleborg employs around 15,000 employees worldwide and has operations in over forty countries.

‘This acquisition marks an important step for Trelleborg,’ says Richard Hepworth, Business Unit President at Trelleborg Marine and Infrastructure. ‘By leveraging the synergies between Mampaey and our existing docking, mooring, and gas transfer businesses, we will be better equipped to meet the evolving needs of our customers, while creating new opportunities for growth and innovation.’

Manufacturing facility becomes European hub

As part of the agreement, Mampaey’s manufacturing facility in Dordrecht will be integrated into Trelleborg’s operations, establishing a central European hub to bolster the company’s presence in the region. This move is expected to enhance production efficiency, ensure quality control, and improve customer service for European markets.

The combined installed base of Trelleborg and Mampaey projects will also support the expansion of site services, enabling Trelleborg to provide a higher level of global customer support.

‘This is an exciting addition to our business, and we look forward to welcoming Mampaey’s team into the Trelleborg family,’ adds Hepworth. ‘Our combined capabilities will ensure we continue to meet region-specific customer needs with even greater precision and quality.’

About Mampaey

Mampaey celebrated its 120-year anniversary this year and has always been based in the historic city of Dordrecht, the Netherlands. Initially, the company provided all types of ship repair jobs, but after a shipyard building tugs approached the company to design and manufacture a towing hook to ensure a safe towing of ships and barges, Mampaey became a specialist in this type of equipment.

Mampaey not only crafted the renowned towing hooks, but also pioneered the development of mooring hooks in 1950, addressing the frequent accidents in oil ports.

Today, the company collaborates with a team of over fifty colleagues globally, and has offices in the Netherlands, Singapore, China, and Brazil. It is known for its innovative and integrated mooring, berthing, towing and ship to shore systems.
