This afternoon, 29 August, a fire erupted on board HNLMS Evertsen. The fire occurred in one of the diesel generators.
All crew is reported safe and there were no injuries. At around 3 pm, the fire was extinguished.
Further investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.

HNLMS Evertsen
HNLMS Evertsen is one of the De Zeven Provinciën-class air defence and command frigates. It entered into service in 2005. Several years ago, it was decided to keep the air defence and command frigates in service longer. The Evertsen was in Den Helder for the maintenande needed to realise this.
