HNLMS Karel Doorman is back on its way to the Red Sea for Operation Aspides. The ship was facing technical problems on one of its weapon systems, which have now been fixed.
The logistics support and supply ship has suffered a delay of several days, but is now fully deployable again. It is expected to be in the Red Sea early next week.

HNLMS Karel Doorman will supply military ships there with fuel so they do not have to leave the area to do so. The vessels are also part of Aspides. The operation aims to maintain free passage in the area. This has not been a given since Houthi attacks.
There is further demand for medical capacity in the sea area. HNLMS Karel Doorman can also provide that.
