Tier II hypbrid power

The Amels 60 follows Damen‘s build process that allows for fast delivery of a proven platform, featuring naval architecture and seakeeping characteristics both tried and tested. The range also features a range of cutting-edge equipment and technology, including IMO Tier III-compliant hybrid power and propulsion.

‘This proven hybrid system currently offers the best solution to reduce harmful emissions, reduce noise and vibrations while benefiting from lower fuel and maintenance costs. It also allows you to cruise up to a certain speed without using the main engines, solely cruising on the generators,’ says Joppe Osté, project manager at Damen Yachting.

Amels 80 ready for outfitting

On 27 November, the first Amels 80 superyacht arrived in the Netherlands ready for outfitting. Damen Yachting’s main shipyard in Vlissingen will be its home until it is completed in 2025. Measuring 80 metres in length, this Amels 80 is the first of the most recent designs to evolve from the Amels Limited Editions range. In keeping with the Amels DNA, designer Espen Øino created the exterior design.

‘This yacht is at the forefront of shipbuilding,’ says Damen Yachting’s project manager, Romke van der Linde. ‘We are a 100+ year old shipyard that continues to innovate and the hybrid Amels 80 is a true testament to this. The feedback from the several Amels 60 yachts that already feature our hybrid system has been more than positive.’

Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design created the custom interior design. The yacht features an owner’s deck and a 200-m2 sun deck. At 2175 GT, there is space for a multitude of toys, a Waterside Beach Club which opens on three sides, a Wellness and Spa area, and a helicopter landing area. The yacht can accommodate fourteen guests and twenty crew plus captain.

The first Amels 80 hull and superstructure was launched from the build facility in Galati, Romania, on 27th September 2023 and was towed to the Netherlands for completion. The yacht was sold one year ago.
