Huisman and BMS Heavy Cranes have kicked-off the production of a 3000-mt Ringer Crane during a ceremony at Huisman’s production facility in the Czech Republic. The production of the crane ceremonially commenced with the welding of the first parts of S690 steel using Huisman’s advanced robotic welding technology.
In early 2022, Denmark-based BMS Heavy Cranes awarded the contract for the delivery of a 3000-mt Ringer Crane.
The crane setup has been optimised for operations in the wind industry. With the capability to lift components of 1200 mt at heights of up to 225 m, and heavy structures of 3000 mt at reduced height, the crane will ready BMS Heavy Cranes for installation of the next generation of wind turbines on and offshore and on floating foundations.

The crane is also well suited to operations in other industries. The fully electrically driven crane helps reduce emissions and improves operational accuracy and energy efficiency ensuring its suitability for use in the renewable energy industry. Delivery of the crane is scheduled for the second half of 2023.

Wire & Arc Additive Manufacturing
Huisman employs the robotic welding technology Wire & Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM), a specific subtype of metal 3D printing, which is highly similar to conventional welding, to produce mid-size to large complex shaped components with high grade tensile steel.
An important benefit of 3D printing is the significant reduction in delivery time at a cost that competes with forgings and castings, combined with a more consistent level of quality.
