One of the five containers that fell off the container ship Baltic Tern near Ameland on Wednesday has been located. It concerns the container with acetone, reports the Netherlands Coast Guard.
The emergency tug Guardian has connected a line to the container with acetone. It is being investigated how it can be salvaged safely.
The other four containers have not been seen, states the Coast Guard. According to the latest information, the contents of the other four containers that fell overboard are kraftliner (wood fibres, two containers), pallets (unknown yet with what, one container) and used cooking oil (a tank tainer).
The Baltic Tern has meanwhile arrived in Rotterdam. The ship of about 162 metres is sailing under the flag of Cyprus and came from German waters.
