Heesen Yachts has launched YN 19550, Project Altea, a 50-metre all aluminium superyacht, at its facility in Oss. The yacht has not yet been sold, but is available for delivery in June 2021.
The Altea has a Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) and comes in at just under the 500-GT threshold. Frank Laupman of Omega Architects penned its exterior profile, with its long waterline, floor-to-ceiling windows and a purposeful profile, characterised by a gently reversed stem and chunky spray rails. Cristiano Gatto created the interior design.
Two 1080-kW (1,448hp) MTU 12V 2000 M72 engines will propel Altea at a top speed of 19.5 knots and a cruising range of 3750 nautical miles at 12 knots. This fast yet highly efficient performance comes courtesy of its FDHF hull design, with its 2.15-metre draught.
Six staterooms will accommodate up to twelve guests, while five cabins are provided for a crew complement of nine.
After commissioning, Project Altea will leave the shipyard for intensive tests in the North Sea at the beginning of May. Delivery is possible from June. The launch took place on 19 February, but the video below was released last week.
