In Amsterdam, four people were injured on Friday evening 20 November when a ferry from the GVB transport company collided with an inland waterway vessel. The accident happened on the IJ.
Two of the injured were taken to hospital, two others were treated by emergency services on the spot. The police are investigating whether a third ship may have been involved in the incident.
The ferry is said to have sailed on the route between Central Station and Buikslotermeer in Amsterdam North. The police received a report of the collision at 19.05 hours.
The police do not yet know what went wrong. Extensive research is being carried out into the matter together with the Netherlands Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT).
The inland barge involved, the Banzai, is moored a little further down the road reports local news site AT5. A large dent can be seen at the front. See a video of the incident as well as pictures below.
