VABO Composites has completed a composite superstructure for a 70.9-metre super yacht currently under construction at Feadship in Amsterdam. For VABO, it is the largest single-piece product to date.

In the night of 8 to 9 October, the lightweight structure measuring 23 x 11 x 5 metres was transported from VABO based in Emmeloord, the Netherlands, to Amsterdam by Van Wieren Transport.

By selecting a carbon composite construction specification, has resulted in weight savings of more than 40 per cent compared to aluminium. VABO was responsible for production, engineering, calculations and project management and will carry out on board installation. In collaboration with the yard, the first painting work has already been carried out in Emmeloord.

Details of the yacht which is now called project 820 remain undisclosed. The yacht was launched at NMC Bolnes on 11 May 2020 after which it was transported to the Feadship shipyard in Amsterdam for fitting out. See the video below. According to Superyacht Times, the yacht will be delivered in 2021.
