On the first cruise ship sailing from Greece since the Covid-19 lockdown, 12 crew members have tested positive for the coronavirus. There are approximately 920 passengers on board TUI Cruises’ Mein Schiff 6.
The ship left the island of Crete on Sunday evening, 27 September. All passengers were then tested negative for the virus. However, after sample tests, for which 150 of the 666 crew members underwent a test, the virus was found in 12 members. On Monday, the ship was to sail from the island of Milos to Piraeus near Athens. Further instructions from the health services are currently awaited.
The infected crew members are isolated from the rest of those on board. The TUI cruise ship, flying the Maltese flag, was to be the first cruise since the lockdown measures came into force in March.
