The Gas Agility arrived at the Holland Amerikakade near Cruiseport Rotterdam on Friday 18 September. The ship was christened there by Manoelle Lepourtre of Total. The Gas Agility is 135.5 metres long and according to owner Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) ‘the largest LNG bunker ship in the world’.
The ship was built at the Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding shipyard, near Shanghai. It is operated by the French company Total. It will operate mainly in Northern Europe. For a period of at least ten years, it will supply LNG to ocean-going vessels, including the 9 new ultra-large container ships (ULCVs) of CMA CGM. These are the first 23,000 TEU container ships to run on LNG.
