A 109-metre motoryacht is the first new build of Oceanco’s recently acquired construction and refit facilities in Zwijndrecht, the Netherlands. The new build has now made its way up the river to the yacht builder’s home base in Alblasserdam for outfitting.
Despite having to work under stringent and enhanced safety restrictions due to Covid-19, the yacht’s production is on schedule. The yacht designed inside and out by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design features a large amount of glass. The main deck, bridge deck, and upper deck are each fully surrounded by large glass windows.
Lateral has once again collaborated with Oceanco on engineering a technologically advanced propulsion system.
Alblasserdam facilities renovated
Oceanco has renovated one of its buildings used for outfitting in Alblasserdam. The building hall has become higher and longer and the floor was strengthened to accommodate the ever larger yachts. In addition, the building now uses heat pumps, which reduce the building’s gas consumption by fifty per cent. The rooftop is equipped with solar panels that will deliver approximately 250,000 kWh of energy a year.
The yacht builder’s largest drydock can accommodate yachts up to 140 metres in length. The renovated outfitting facilities has been increased to accommodate yachts up to 120 metres in length. The facilities are divided into access-restricted zones to assure safety and confidentiality for up to 1000 persons at any given time including Oceanco’s outfitting team, subcontractors, owner’s representatives and crew. The company can now simultaneously accommodate more yachts of greater size.
The Zwijndrecht construction and refit facilities also allows for maintenance, refit and lifetime extension activities as well as providing the ability to do outside refit work. Further, this facility is to become a co-maker hub and brain park as well as a training/educational centre.
