RH Marine will supply and install all energy distribution, automation and bridge systems for the new Combat Support Ship (CSS) Den Helder. Due to the growing impact of digitalisation and automation, cyber security is an integral part of the contract.
The electrical distribution and automation package consists of switchboards and cable routing to the integrated bridge, CCTV and integrated platform management system. Over the next four years, more than forty RH Marine employees will work on the CSS project. Engineering has already started and the first equipment is to be supplied and installed in 2022.
The new CSS Den Helder will be 180 metres long, will have a 75-person crew and can take an additional 75 people on board. There is room for several helicopters and around twenty containers. The vessel is built in Romania, after which its final components will be installed in Den Helder. Completion is planned for 2024 and the vessel is scheduled to be operational by 2025.
More than hundred companies from the Dutch naval construction sector are involved in the construction of the vessel. Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding (DSNS) will build the ship as the Ministry of Defense’s main contractor.
