A container ship of the Japanese shipping company ONE has hit a crane in the port of Busan in South Korea. The terminal crane immediately collapsed and partly ended up on the ship. The incident happened on Monday afternoon local time.

The incident concerns the container ship Milano Bridge, which has a capacity of 13,900 TEU, sails under the Panamanian flag and was built in 2018. As can be seen in the video (see below), the ship was not loaded.

One wounded

According to the maritime incidents website Maritime Bulletin, it first ran into another ship, the Seaspan Ganges. Immediately afterwards, the Milano Bridge came into direct contact with three cranes at the Busan New Port container terminal. One of the three cranes collapsed. As far as known, one person was injured during the incident.

ONE’s ship suffered material damage, as part of the crane ended up on deck. Reportedly, the Seaspan ship was hardly damaged and was able to continue its voyage.
