The shipbuilding market for cruise ships is booming. In 2018 sixteen cruise ships were delivered, in 2019 24. In SWZ|Maritime’s February cruise special, our editor Gerrit de Boer describes the European cruise shipbuilding landscape. Lists of the cruise ships delivered and on order are now available for download.
The Dutch maritime industry has been an important supplier for cruise shipbuilders for years and until fifty years ago, Dutch shipyards had a good reputation for building them. The construction of cruise ships has now been picked up again, albeit still on a modest scale. In his overview, De Boer looks into the largest ships built in 2018-2019, the Dutch cruise shipbuilding ventures and the top four cruise shipbuilders in Europe.
