SEAFAR and Shipping Technology have joined forces. The companies seek to combine SEAFAR’s remote and semi-autonomous navigation technology with the latter’s autonomous and data-driven management systems based on artificial intelligence (AI) for joint value proposition.
The collaboration came about from a joint Bosman Shipping Group project in which the MS Progres will be equipped with systems from both Shipping Technology and SEAFAR. These three companies are also forming a project group to work with legislators and education (training) bodies to develop the technology-driven future functions of the inland shipping industry.

The companies hope their joint offering provides an accelerated A to Z picture in the field of safe semi-autonomous inland navigation and will boost the automation impact on board. In addition, legislators and regulators can be provided with a good picture through the collaboration that potentially promotes legislation and subsequent crew reduction in a safe manner.
