SAL Heavy Lift’s type 116 ice class vessel Hilke successfully traversed the Northern Sea Route from Montrose, United Kingdom to Korsakov, Russia, for the very first time. It transported cargo for its sister company Combi Lift.

Traversing the Northern Sea Route comes with its challenges such as adverse weather conditions with temperatures of -12°C and bad visibility as well as enormous navigational challenges due to the short day light and the necessity to observe the ice conditions at all times. It also presents convincing advantages such as significant saving of transport time.

The Combi Lift transport reached its destination on time.
