Wärtsilä will divest its Water & Waste business to Swedish investment company Solix Group AB. Water & Waste offers a wide portfolio of environmental solutions for the full spectrum of water and waste management at sea.

From ballast water treatment to efficient wastewater systems, the technologies offered by Water & Waste contribute to operational efficiency, compliance and enhanced environmental performance across the vessel’s lifecycle.

It is not the first time Wärtsilä divests a business unit to Solix Group. In December 2024, the investment company also acquired Wärtsilä’s Automation, Navigation and Control System (ANCS) business.

Last business unit in Portfolio Business to be divested

As part of Wärtsilä Portfolio Business, Water & Waste has operated independently to accelerate performance improvements and unlock value to Wärtsilä through divestment. In 2025, the annual revenue of Water & Waste was EUR 54 million.

Bernd Bertram, Head of Portfolio Business, Wärtsilä says: ’Wärtsilä Water & Waste has developed a broad range of specialised and proven environmental solutions for marine. Building on our earlier collaboration with Solix, Water & Waste will be well positioned to develop further and ensure continued value creation for its customers and highly skilled team.’

Subject to approvals, the transaction of Water & Waste is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2026. Following this, Wärtsilä will have completed the divestment of all business units included in its Portfolio Business.
