Royal Wagenborg provided assistance on 27 January to the car carrier Thames Highway after a fire broke out on board the vessel. Tugboats Waterstraat and Waterstroom were deployed to safely escort the ship to the port of Emden.
In the early hours of Tuesday, around 1:00 AM, Wagenborg received an emergency call reporting a critical situation aboard the Thames Highway. At the time, the vessel was located north of Rottumerplaat. Due to the severity of the alert, the tugboats Waterstraat and Waterstroom were immediately dispatched from Eemshaven as a precaution.

The tugboats arrived at the scene around 3:00 am. Upon arrival, it was determined that the crew of the Thames Highway had managed to bring the situation under control. However, the ship was no longer able to proceed under its own power.
Following consultation and inspection, the Thames Highway was secured to the tugboats. By early evening, the convoy reached Emden safely.
