Holland Shipyards Group has once again been awarded a contract by GVB Amsterdam for the construction of a fully electric ferry. This vessel, designated NZK 105, will be the sixth in the NZK-series operating across the Noordzeekanaal.
The renewed collaboration follows the earlier delivery of five electric ferries – NZK 100 through NZK 104 – which have been in service since 2021 and 2022.
Construction started with a keel-laying ceremony for NZK 105 at Holland Shipyards‘ yard in Hardinxveld-Giessendam on 10 December.

Sustainable, proven, and ready for the future
Just like its sister ships, NZK 105 is a fully electric, double-ended ferry designed for efficient, quiet, and emission-free operation. It will contribute directly to reducing emissions on the busy Noordzeekanaal crossings and further support GVB’s transition to clean public transport.
With every vessel in the NZK series, the yard has taken steps to improve design, production efficiency, and integration of advanced battery systems.
