Damen Schelde Marine Services (DSMS) will relocate mid-next year to a newly built warehouse and office on the Souburg II industrial estate in Vlissingen. The Damen Shipyards Group subsidiary has outgrown its current site on Koningsweg in Vlissingen, partly due to two acquisitions.

The new building on Louis Pasteurweg will offer DSMS significantly more space. The total development will cover nearly 5000 m2 on a 7500-m2 site. This will increase warehouse capacity by 66 per cent compared to the current facility, while office space will expand by about fifty per cent to 730 m2.

‘That’s very much needed,’ explains Arnold Suykerbuyk, Managing Director of DSMS. ‘We’ve grown considerably in recent years, partly thanks to the acquisitions of Ruysch International and 4 Stroke Diesel Parts. We expect further growth in the future, so it’s good to have the space to accommodate that.’

Maritime Logistics, a DSMS division responsible for general logistics services for both external and internal Damen clients, will also move to Souburg II.

Current location to Damen Yachting

DSMS currently employs around 35 people in Vlissingen, all of whom will move to the new premises. The current location will remain in use within the Damen family business. Damen Yachting, also based on Koningsweg, will make good use of the freed-up space on “t Eiland”.

Construction of the new facility will begin in October. The building is designed by UniQ Architecten and will be constructed by J.P.G. Groeneweg Bouw.
