Bart Jan Hoevers will take up the role of CEO at Groningen Seaports as of 1 October. Hoevers brings extensive executive experience in the energy sector. He has also worked in various roles within government and the private sector on issues at the intersection of energy, infrastructure, and the economy.

Since 2017, Hoevers has served on the Executive Board of Gasunie and as CEO of Gasunie Transport Services, the national gas network operator. He joined Gasunie in 2007 and held several leadership roles in joint venture management, business development, and regulation. He began his career at De Nederlandsche Bank and later worked at the Dutch Ministry of Finance in the area of state participations. Hoevers will succeed the former CEO, Cas König.

Interim executive

In addition to the appointment of Bart Jan Hoevers as new CEO, Groningen Seaports has also announced an interim executive. Harmen Peters has been appointed to temporarily ensure continuity within the executive team, as CFO Harold Sanders will be taking on a new challenge at Royal NNZ Group BV as of 1 September.

Peters brings with him extensive social and commercial experience. According to Keurentjes, his appointment ensures stability within the board: ‘The appointment of Harmen Peters provides the necessary continuity within the executive team. He brings valuable expertise to lead the port authority during this interim period.’
