Advertorial – Hydraulic cylinder piston rods encounter many operational challenges. These crucial steel components are precisely machined to meet strict tolerances and achieve a smooth surface. Van Halteren’s laser cladding method Enduroq 1 is designed in-house and offers exceptional protection, ensuring your equipment remains functional and durable under tough conditions.

  •  Safe: For users and the environment.
  •  Effective: Offers better corrosion protection, without the downsides of Chromium 6.
  •  High Performance: Higher wear resistance, scratch-resistant, longer lifetime expectancy.
  •  Value: Competitive pricing, less maintenance, easy to repair.

Enduroq 1 is a laser cladded stainless steel-based coating that is specifically designed for piston rod applications. With its toughness and resistance to wear, Enduroq 1 outshines hard chrome, offering a superior alternative.

Compared to traditional hard chrome or nickel chrome coatings, Enduroq 1 provides increased quality and longevity at a similar price level. In the event of any damage or wear, the coating can be field repaired, minimizing downtime and maintenance costs. Enduroq 1 is applied using a chromium 6-free process, and meets the requirements of the latest version of the NBD 10300—the rigorous specification for piston rod coatings developed and utilized by the esteemed Dutch Department of Waterways. This recognition showcases their commitment to safety, compliance, and excellence.

Specifications

Van Halteren Technologies’ coatings offer a wide range of possibilities, including lengths from 300 to 30,000 mm and diameters from 60 to 600 mm, and even with diameters up to 900 mm available upon request. The weight of the piston rods can reach up to 32 tons. Laser power can go up to 20 kW, with layer thicknesses varying from 0.2 to 2 mm, and both single and multi-layer cladding are possible. To give an indication of the speed and efficiency with which the coating material is added during the laser cladding process: material deposition can reach 3 to 15 kg per hour.

Choosing the optimal combination of rod material and coating is crucial. Therefore, Van Halteren Technologies employs a thorough matching process that aligns the specific requirements of each application, as defined by their valued customers, with the properties and characteristics of the available rod materials and coatings.

As technology continues to evolve, laser cladding will play an increasingly important role in manufacturing, repair, and refurbishment processes, contributing to the development of even more durable and reliable cylinders.
