Saltwater Engineering, a Papendrecht-based engineering firm in the maritime sector, has introduced its latest vessel design, Blue Quest. Drawing from extensive experience in vessel conversions, Blue Quest offers multifunctionality within a streamlined and efficient design.

Saltwater Engineering has a history of converting vessels for the survey market. However, each conversion brings its own unique set of challenges: Is the deck large enough? How must the required sensors be mounted? How noisy are the propellers? These questions, and many more, are constant considerations.

To address these issues head-on, the company decided to develop a new, purpose-built design: Blue Quest. The vessel is specifically tailored for geophysical surveys, minor geotechnical works, and unexploded ordnance (UXO) identification and removal. It serves as a versatile platform, easily mobilised to suit a variety of offshore survey services.

Launch at Offshore Energy

The design follows Blue Sky, a service operation vessel design, fit for the constantly developing offshore wind market. The Blue Quest design will officially be launched at the Offshore Energy exhibition in the RAI – Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

During this two-day event, held on November 26 and 27, attendees will have the opportunity to view the scale model up close. The Saltwater Engineering booth can be found at number 1.335.
