Danish manufacturer of safety solutions, VIKING Life-Saving Equipment, has unveiled the new generation of its VIKING YouSafe Vanguard lifejackets. It was developed to meet new standards of comfort and safety for workers. The protective equipment was primarily designed for the offshore industry.

Trying to meet the customers’ requirements, VIKING Life-Saving Equipment, an Esbjerg-based company, started to design a new generation of lifejackets. “The VIKING YouSafeTM Vanguard inflatable lifejacket has been developed after the leading supplier asked designers to return to first principles and deliver a versatile, high-quality product to meet new standards of comfort and safety in order to ensure compliance,” the Danish company stated. The new equipment meets offshore industry standards (275N) as well as is SOLAS/MED-approved and CE/ISO-accredited.

Improved features

The new generation of lifejackets was designed to redistribute weight away from the neck and shoulder area. It also provides more space for movements especially for those cases when a user needs to wear a helmet and communications gear. Furthermore, the safety solution is covered with high-visibility colours to attract more attention during emergency situations.

Besides these features, VIKING equipped the lifejackets with front and back inspection windows to meet the EU’s latest Directive on private protection equipment. The safety solution has a new webbing system designed for easy and intuitive donning and a snug. “Body-fit, freedom of movement, efficiency in securing straps and even aesthetics impact their willingness to wear a lifejacket properly and remain compliant in pressure situations,” explained Bettina Kjaergaard, global product manager at VIKING Life-Saving Equipment.
