Damen Naval, the dedicated subsidiary of the Damen Group that is focused on building warships and patrol boats, is continuing to invest in new equipment. To this end, the Dutch shipyard acquired a new powerful cutting machine, which will be installed in Vlissingen before the end of the summer.

The new metal cutting machine will be supplied to Damen Naval from Germany by Messer Cutting Systems GmbH. According to the manufacturer, the CNC-controlled apparatus provides powerful and accurate performance with plasma and oxyfuel cutting. It is suitable for all carbon steel varieties, stainless steel as well as aluminium.

Before putting the machine into operation, Messer Cutting Systems GmbH will train Damen Naval personnel at its headquarter in the State of Hesse as well at Damen’s shipbuilding facility in Vlissingen. All preparations will be completed by early September. “With the most up-to-date equipment at our disposal, we are in the position to deliver our clients precision engineered and manufactured ships for diverse defence markets from our shipbuilding facilities in the Netherlands,” said Tijs Buijs, Damen Naval operations director.
