SWZ|Maritime's January issue kicks off the new year with an extensive description of the Oteco (Open Top Eco) 5000.
After an extensive preparation and design phase, Groningen-based Briese Shipping and Groot Ship Design succeeded in developing a cost-efficient and energy-efficient ship with a large flexible cargo capacity: the Oteco 5000. The first four came into service last year and a second series of four will follow in 2019. Read all about what makes these vessels special in SWZ|Maritime's January issue available online now (subscribers only).
100th Anniversary "Het Schip"
In addition, this year we'll dive into our own history as 2019 is the 100th anniversary of "Het Schip" (The Ship), one of SWZ|Maritime's predecessors. We'll look at former articles and analyse how much has changed in the course of a century.
TU Delft Research
Groundbreaking research at the TU Delft is ongoing and in our January issue, we'll discuss two PhD research projects in detail:
- Agnieta Habben Jansen researched how the survivability of naval vessels can be incorporated in early stage naval ship design.
- Luigi Portunato came up with an innovative, compact and resistant ship design able to survive the extremely harsh conditions of the Fram Strait during the Polar night by drifting on the ice.
Still, there is more. With topics such as CoVadem, Sea Traffic Management, multi-functional offshore wind farms, and two stroke gas engines, the January issue is a must read! Read it online now.
