The Wadden Sea is a recognised biological ecosystem that was declared a Unesco World Heritage Site in June 2009. The shipping companies that operate here are constantly looking for ever more sustainable solutions for their ferries.
SWZ|Maritime's June issue features a special on the ferries that currently operate in this sensitive environment as well as those that may be seen on the Wadden Sea in the near future. The special goes into the Texelstroom operated by TESO, the ferries Rederij Doeksen is operating as well as the LNG ferries that will be added to its fleet in 2019 and the ferries operated by Wagenborg Passagiersdiensten.
Apart from this special, there is an article on the BlueWeek that discusses what it takes to realise multiple use of the North Sea, an article on navigating by waves, and an article on the RDM Centre of Excellence's Aquabots, small modulair boats students can experiment on.
