From seven entries, the jury of the Maritime Award: KNVTS Ship of the Year 2018 has selected its three nominees.

This year, the most prestigious Dutch maritime award will be presented for the 21st time. The award ceremony takes place at the Maritime Awards Gala on 12 November in Amsterdam.

The nominees (in random order) are:

  • Reversed Sterndrive Drive (RSD) Tug 2513 Twin Fin "Innovation"; designed and partially built by Damen Shipyards Gorinchem at Gorinchem, the Netherlands.
  • Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger "Scheldt River"; designed and built by Royal IHC at Krimpen aan den IJssel, the Netherlands.
  • Patrol vessel "RPA 8"; designed and built by Shipyard Gebr. Kooiman BV at Zwijndrecht, the Netherlands.

Assessment Criteria

Ships eligible for the Maritime Award: KNVTS Ship of the Year 2018 have to have been developed in the Netherlands, particularly concerning their innovative aspects and have preferably been built or largely outfitted there as well. The ship has to have been delivered between 1 May 2017 and 30 April 2018. The assessment criteria are Design, Economics, Sustainability and Environment, Safety and Building Process.
