On 19 March, Hapag-Lloyd's MV Tolten hit the moored container vessel MV Hamburg Bay at the Port of Karachi in Pakistan.
The 8004 TEU Tolten collided with the 6350 TEU Hamburg Bay at South Asia Port Terminal, one of South Asia's busiest ports. There are no reports of injuries, but dozens of containers have fallen into the sea.
The cause of the incident is not yet known, but local media report the port faces extreme congestion, which may have been an important contributor. Operations are underway to remove the containers from the water.
The video below shows the Tolten scraping along the moored vessel as well as the containers in the water after the collision.
