This is what the Hull Vane looks like below the waterline of a superyacht.

The patented Hull Vane is a hydrofoil-like appendage fixed to the transom of a vessel and generates hydrodynamic lift. This lift is angled forward, and therefore has a horizontal component pushing the vessel forward. The energy saving device reduces the required propulsion power and therefore the fuel consumption.
