To keep innovating, different, sometimes competing, companies or organisations join forces in creating an innovative product.

Slowly, it is becoming clear that we need each other to make a real difference. Trust, a clear goal, learning together, a small, bold team allowed to make mistakes and that understand's each team member's motivation are key in this development. Learning does not always require innovating, but innovating always requires learning.

In a new episode of SWZ|Maritime's Lifelong learning articles, SWZ editor Annelinde Gerritsen gives numerous examples of how maritime companies and organisations apply this in practice and the results of these sometimes unorthodox cooperations, such as the WAAMpeller, Multi-Mission Unmanned Surface Vehicle Seagull-301 and the Ekofish fishing vessel.

Lifelong Learning Series

SWZ Maritime's July/August issue featured the first episode of the new regular section: "Leven lang leren" (Lifelong Learning). The articles in this section portray how people working in the maritime industry learn and innovate and are meant to inspire other maritime professionals.

Central to these articles are innovative cooperation initiatives, managing innovation processes and passing on and retaining knowledge when it passes from older generations to younger ones.
