The need for new ships in Indonesia is huge. Yet, who wants to build them, will have to go there and take money and knowledge with them.

'If you really want it, you'll have to invest there and be very patient,' says Marjan Lacet, Trade Promotion Manager at Netherlands Maritime Technology (NMT). Because Indonesia wants its own shipbuilding cluster that builds first for itself and only later also for export. In addition, this cluster will also have to create employment for the country's own fast growing young workforce.
