As a special treat, Edward Heerema was called on stage last night during the Maritime Awards Gala to present him with a special certificate for his innovative vessel the Pioneering Spirit.
Allseas' heavy lift and pipe laying ship the Pioneering Spirit is the embodiment of the Dutch maritime industry's innovative strength. Yet, due to the nature of the project, its building location and the legal ownership it is not eligible for any of the maritime awards presented at the Maritime Awards Gala.
That is why the Maritime Awards Foundation decided to present Allseas' Chief Executive Edward Heerema with a special certificate for this visionary project.
The Young Maritime Representatives had their work cut out for them: they were to build the Pioneering Spirit out of Lego (by Maritime Awards Gala).
