Author and SWZ|Maritime contributor, Gerrit J. De Boer attended the baptism of the Voe Vanguard on Friday 5 May hosted by Damen Shipyards in Hardinxveld-Giessendam.
Directly after the launch the Voe Vanguard sailed from Hardinxveld to Walney Extension wind turbine project for its first assignment. It will mainly be used on wind turbine projects. You can read the full report in Maand Maritiem, SWZ|Maritime June edition.
The baptism was carried out by Akira Mary Lumsden, the 16-month old granddaughter of Bob Spanswick, director of Delta Marine Ltd., Lerwick. The Voe Vanguard is a type DP 2 RSV3315 (Renewables Service Vessel), a new design based on the MultiCat. The first test sail was made on Monday 20 March at Merwede.
There is accommodation for 15 people onboard. The Voe Vanguard can be used for the installation of cables and turbines, anchor handling, ROV support, diving support as well as salvage and towing.
