Dutch concern AITAC, which specialises in engineering software for maritime and offshore companies, has been acquired by Dassault Systèmes and will assist them in the development of their 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

Dassault Systèmes will receive 40 percent of AITAC’s engineering agency in Croatia, as part of the deal.

3D mastered model

Shipyards and offshore businesses use the AITAC application Smart Drawings to create automated blueprints which are based on a 3D-mastered model of a ship, platform or other constructions that has been designed with CATIA applications from Dassault Systèmes.

This automated process if based on guidelines and templates that reaffirm maritime standards and local demands. Companies will incur fewer costs for blueprints and improve the quality and certification of documents.

Dassault Systèmes will fully integrate the Smart Drawings application into the solutions ‘Designed for Sea’ and ‘Optimized Production for Sea’ that are based on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Companies use these solutions for design, validation and production planning in maritime and offshore projects.

In the past, traditional blueprints were created and monitored by various divisions that were independent of one another. However, the field is moving towards multi-disciplinary 3D mastered models which enables digital continuity from concept to production as well as operationally.

The transaction was concluded on 1 June.
