Liebherr and the Dutch gen-set supplier, Sandfirden Technics, enter into partnership for the development of hybrid ship propulsion systems.
As a part of the agreement, Liebherr will provide complete propulsion systems starting from 200 kW power per drive and including generators, electric motors, switchgear, frequency converter technology and the complete Power Management System to supply the drives. A control panel with display of the system-relevant information and an electric storage unit will round off the offer.
Components and system solutions by Liebherr have already been deployed for decades in the maritime sector, primarily in ship, offshore, port gantry and ship-to-shore cranes. In the mining industry, Liebherr diesel-electric drive systems are daily in use under the harshest conditions, contributing significantly to the machines success.
