The City terminal at Eemhaven in Rotterdam will soon be converted into a reefer service centre which is set to include an administration office where planning and reporting will take place. The depot will also function as an educational centre.

The endeavour is in line with the Port Authority’s plans to create a multi-user platform where various complementary logistic service providers can make communal use of a central entrance and exit. They envision this creating much synergy.

The region will be developed into an efficient and compact multi-modal hub for coastal shipping, inland shipping, rail and road transport. The Kramer Group announced recently. An agreement was reached by Rotterdam Port authority and the Kramer Group to establish the service centre on what was formally the City Terminal at Eemhaven.

In addition, the Kramer Group will build an inland waterway service between Maasvlakte and Eemhaven to receive full cooling containers. The group are privy to a workspace of 5.5 hectare and a quay wall of approximately 200 metres.

As a result, the Port Authority will build an inland waterway quay. To replace the empty depot on the Reeweg the group will build a reefer service centre. The services from the centre will have a further reach than the empty depot. Not only will cooling containers be repaired, cleaned and parked but will also be inspected and safeguarded.

Kramer partners Seamark Reefer Service and AM-Solution will deliver very specific service for the cooling containers.
