Wind turbine installation vessel MPI Adventure has installed 72 SWT-4.0-130 offshore wind turbines on the Sandbank offshore wind farm.

After initially assisting with commissioning of the offshore substation, the MPI Adventure installed the very first turbine on 28 July 2016. By erecting six of these complete offshore wind turbines per cycle, the final turbine was installed less than six months later on 21 January. This means the work was completed three months ahead of schedule.

MPI was also responsible for the design, engineering and manufacturing of the sea fastenings used during transportation and installation of all Siemens turbines on the Sandbank offshore wind farm.

Sandbank Offshore Wind Farm

The Sandbank offshore wind farm is located approximately 90 km west of the island of Sylt in the German Bight. When fully commissioned later this year, the wind farm will be able to generate green electricity for more than 400,000 households.

MPI Adventure

The MPI Adventure is a state-of-the-art offshore installation vessel. It is designed to transport, lift, install and decommission components such as foundations, wind turbines, met masts and transformer stations.
